Tim Wiebe-Neufeld

Executive Minister

Tim brings decades of ministry experience to his role of Executive Minister. Together with his wife Donita he has served as Directors at Camp Valaqua and Pastors at First Mennonite Church in Edmonton. Tim’s ministry passions include Christ-centred discipleship, communal expressions of faith at both the local and wider-church level, collaborative discernment, and care for all of creation including the marginalized and vulnerable.

Ruth Bergen Braun

Communications Coordinator

Ruth is the face behind the weekly MCA Communiqué, the bulletin announcements,  and all the changes on the MCA website. She meets every second week with the Communication Coordinators from MC Canada, MCBC, MCSask, MCMB, and MCEC to coordinate messaging between the regional churches and the nation-wide church. You will often see her taking photos at live MCA events!

Jon Olfert

Camp Valaqua Director

Jon has over 20 years of camp experience including work as a Camp Counsellor, Out-trip Leader, Day Camp Coordinator, and Camp Director.  He has been a long term director  and he and his wife Nikki have taken great joy in watching his three boys grow up under the tall, tall trees.  Jon loves Camp Valaqua and has been honored to bear witness to it’s incredible impact on the lives of so many campers, staff, and volunteers.

Jeff Schellenberg

Camp Valaqua Manager

Jeff works hard to keep our camp facilities repaired and functional. He's your contact person for booking the Yurts and all things to do with camp facilities. If you have maintenance skills and would like to volunteer to use them at Camp Valaqua, give Jeff a call. There is always something to fix!

Suzanne Gross

Bridge Building Facilitator

As Bridge Building Facilitator,  Suzanne works to maintain momentum and relationships that have been established over the first ten years of NEM, working with the Mission & Service Committee and the MCA Executive. This discernment includes connecting with congregations to explore intercultural and interfaith opportunities in locations beyond Edmonton.

Wayne Janz

Austin Janz

Treasurers

Wayne and Austin Janz, operating as Highside Solutions Inc., take care of the day-to-day financial management of Mennonite Church Alberta. In addition to running the payroll, paying the bills, and receiving donations, they work closely with the Finance Committee to report our financial results each month to other MCA committees and staff, and ensure our government reporting obligations are met.
